[Theological miscellany], [17th century].

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of a collection of various religious texts, including a Latin treatise on philosophy titled "Totius Philosophiae naturalis systema," copies of William Chillingworth's disputations and correspondence with John Lewgar debating the practices and doctrines of the Catholic church, and other Chillingworth extracts concerning such Catholic beliefs and history as "the condition of communion with the Church of Rome," "Whether the Collyridians were not condemned as Hereticks" for offering a cake as a sacrifice to the Virgin Mary, and whether women could make offerings "if they had done it as a guift or present and not as a sacrifice." The manuscript also includes a copy of a letter from George Morley regarding a dispute about "intention" between his correspondent and Richard Bellings.
